Enamel and glass are often complemented with metals so it is necessary to know the restoration of those materials as well. Glass restoration can be divided into two separate processes, first process is cleaning and assembling fragments, and the second process is the reconstruction of the missing parts.
Enamel is a decorative technique which uses silicate pigments at high temperatures to create resilient structure (glaze) in different decorative forms. Enamel is not only used on metals, gold, silver, copper and iron, but can be used on porcelain and ceramics as well. There are several techniques in restoration and preservation of enamel, as well as several techniques at reconstructing enamel decorations, and the most used technique is called cold enamel. This technique uses epoxy resin mixed with pigments which create the imitation of enamel.
